Fishing Grounds screen (2026-10-14)

  • Opened from the Ships tab's Fishing Grounds button or a fishing boat's popup; full screen like the Route Assignment screen: the gray map on the left, a side panel on the right, Done or Esc to go back.
  • On the map, every fishing ground some boat of the company can work (its gear and depth) from a port it can get to from its base, refuelling on the way, with a trip from there reaching the ground, is a pie of the year: twelve slices, January at the top going clockwise, each month's slice split between the colours of the species in season there then, dark when nothing is; this month's slice has a white edge; big pies have the months' letters round the rim. The pie is the ground's own size on the map (9 to 72 px). Over pies 24 px or bigger are pictures of the ground's species round its middle. Hovering a picture tells all about that species there (its family and gear, its season there, how rich the catch is and the stock left, about what a crate fetches, whether it's a trophy fish, which boat models catch it, and its fact); hovering a slice, that month's species, rough seas and the ground's quality. Clicking a pie picks the ground (and opens its boats), or opens a picked one's boats. Picked grounds are ringed in gold with their name and boats.
  • The side panel: "Your grounds" on top (the picked ones: each with Boats… and an X to drop it, its boats going back to fishing the best within reach of their ports), and below "All grounds your boats can reach, best first": ranked by quality, the average over the twelve months of the best a crate-a-day there is worth, each with a little pie, its depth, species count, quality (% of the best) and a bar, Pick, and its name to show it on the map.
  • A picked ground's boats: a row for each boat model whose gear and depth can work something there (only those), with its picture, how many the company owns and has free, what it catches there, and the count of its boats sent there: + on the left, the number, - on the right, starting at 0 (the free boats nearest the ground go first; a boat sent elsewhere is busy; + is greyed out with none free). Each model's boats there land their catch at a port chosen from the HQ and hubs ("freezer") and the ports by the ground (miles from it beside each), sold there or, ticking Freezer (HQ and hubs only), kept in the freezer for the seafood carriers. Under each row, how its boats get there: straight out from the port, or "Beyond a trip from Rotterdam: its boats sail to Lerwick and fish from there, and refuels at Aberdeen on the way each way, then bring the catch back the same way to land it", in light blue, or in red if they can't get there at all.
  • A boat in port with a catch away from its base heads home to land it, else heads to that port, both by way of refuel stops if they're beyond one tank; at that port it makes its trips from there and back, and the catch is landed only at its base. Up to 8 boats work a ground at once.
  • Freezers (the cold store) are at the company's HQ and hubs only: a catch landed anywhere else is sold, whatever its boat's Catch setting.
